I started sewing when I was 8 years old on the same sewing machine I still use today. I loved the way the fabric went from something flat and smooth to something shaped and intentional.
I still love sewing but today I am doing other things as well. I recently married a wonderful Italian man and we live in a wonderful neighborhood in a small town in Mississippi. I decided about a year ago that I was ready to start moving away from what everyone expected me to do (teach with that fancy degree I got) and start spending more time doing what I truly enjoy. I am still working out how I'm going to make money doing what I enjoy, but I can guarantee I'm going to enjoy it while I figure that part out.
The things that occupy my time now are tending to our large vegetable garden, involving myself with my local community, and helping people make the most of what they have. I like to ride bikes, read books, grow plants and make things.
